Rail Bridges Asset Management Strategy

Traction Room and Opus together with Kiwirail developed a national bridge assessment and maintenance strategy. The strategy optimises the life of existing steel bridges on the Kiwirail network and the maintenance costs of achieving this by using a structured condition assessment framework, structural engineering modeling (FEA) and applying a NPV cost model to repairs and maintenance. Traction Room’s experience in the construction and maintenance of rail structures was essential to the cost modeling and constructability.
